San Antonio Police Department : ウィキペディア英語版 | San Antonio Police Department
The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) is the municipal law enforcement agency of the city of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. It is headquartered in Downtown San Antonio at 315 South Santa Rosa Street. Municipal law enforcement (the position of Alguacil) was established with the Villa of San Fernando (which would become the City of San Antonio) under the Empire of Spain, on 1 August 1731. Municipal peace officers would continue to serve the community under the flags of Spain, Mexico and the Republic of Texas, even with the city being in the path of invading armies several times. By 1846 San Antonio is under its 4th flag (United States). The position of City Marshal (ex officio Chief Of Police) provides order with the San Antonio Police Force enlarging after the Civil War and Reconstruction along with the population. The City Marshal designation is eventually dropped and the department passes through the usual cycles of modernization, with the Department today having over 2,100 sworn officers. ==SWAT Team== In 2004, the SWAT unit of the San Antonio Police Department took first place in the general competition at the World SWAT Challenge held in Moyock, North Carolina, overtaking some of the best SWAT teams from around the world. In 2010, the SWAT unit took the title of Best SWAT team in America, and won 2nd place internationally behind the Canadian team.
